Bio

BIO (100 words)

Three powerful forces in Irish roots music in their own right, Noelie McDonnell, Nicola Joyce and Noriana Kennedy combine as The Whileaways to create a beguiling tapestry of harmonies, tradition and beautifully crafted original songs. All three write and sing drawing on their own experience and the result is captivating.

The band came to know each other’s singing over a number of years, playing in sessions in the folk melting pot of Galway city. Their recent highly acclaimed album 'Saltwater Kisses' received four stars in The Irish Times and RTE Radio 1 Album of the week. Prepare to be spellbound.

LONGER BIO (200words)
Three powerful forces in Irish roots music in their own right, Noelie McDonnell, Noriana Kennedy and Nicola Joyce combine as The Whileaways to create a beguiling tapestry of harmonies, tradition and beautifully crafted original songs. Their sound is simply captivating.

These three singers could all front their own projects, and indeed have, with six previous albums to their collective credit. Having toured separately, they came to know each other’s singing on home ground while playing sessions in the folk melting pot of Galway city. Dipping their toe in the water as a trio, they were hailed as ‘a knockout of the festival’ at the legendary Port Fairy Folk Festival, Australia in 2012, and have continued to make waves in the folk music scene both at home and abroad since then.

Their critically acclaimed most recent album 'Saltwater Kisses' received a four star review in the Irish Times and was the RTE Radio 1 Album of the week on it's release.

This is a unique combination of songwriters, singers and voices, whose enthralling live performances have secured their firm footing in Irish roots music. Prepare to be spellbound.
